I pay by standing order every month, they send me a letter for disconnection because I fell behind by 15 days they say they will disconnect me and it would charge me £120 to reconnect the company is a joke I will be moving.
I changed to airtricity an I have to say that although its not much I have dropped my weekly cost from £20 with nie to £17. I dont understand how others are seeing such a drastic rise in their bills. I top up over the phone once a week and always speak to friendly polite staff. The only thing I would like to change is for their top up app to work they keep saying it will be available next month but it never is. Other than that my bills are cheaper and any staff ive dealt with have been very pleasent so overall im pleased with the service.
Awful stay clear!! Worst customer service i have ever come across. I had a faulty key pad and after numerous calls to report this it took 2 days to get it replaced leaving us with no electricity for 2 nights during the winter,
fter reading the other reviews, I must say that I have never been overbilled. However, I am giving a one star rating because of their totally rubbish approach to customer service. As everyone knows, Power NI have recently announced a reduction in their prices, I have now asked Airshiticity 5 times if they plane to follow suit. My first approach was to fill out the form on their website - no reply. Then I telephoned - was told did not know. Then I emailed - again they dont bother to reply. Then I filled out the online form an their website again - again they dont bother to reply. Then I telephoned again to be told that they dont know, and that they would find out and call me back within 24 hours. Guess what - they did’nt bother. Looks like I will be going back to Power NI.
Don’t even bother with trying them out… my first bill was 3 times my Power NI bills - no explanation other than ‘I use a lot of electricity’ (even though I use the exact same as I’ve always used!). It’s in the hands of the consumer council now and I am back with Power NI. Should never have left them. I’m only glad I didn’t sign up to a contract with Airtricity! I don’t recommend even a trial period because it will cost you from your first bill!!!
I tried to give this a no-star rating but you have to give at least one. I’d prefer minus stars for Airtricity.
I wouldn’t even give Airtricity one star but since zero isn’t an option. I switched over to Airtricity in January 2012 and have REGRETTED it ever since. I’m totally and utterly disgusted and so furious. I was promised a 14% savings and instead they have billed me twice each month and adding insult to injury my bills have gone from £75/month to £150/month. I haven’t been using any more units and yet I’ve been paying double. I’ve read the other reviews and just wish I had read them before signing up. Airtricity reps out there are promising the sun, moon and stars but in reality all you get is FLEECED! Like another review stated - AVOID THIS COMPANY LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!!! I’ve now switched back to Power NI and should NEVER have moved from them!
Worst customer service ever! Was put on a 2 year contract I didn’t sign up for. I repeatedly asked for a copy of the terms and conditions and never received any. Ended up sending a letter by recorded delivery to the head office and got a reply weeks later simply stating I was on a two year contract and no explanation. Also my bills increased from £50 per month to over £135. Eventually had to ask the consumer council to help which they did. Avoid them like the plague!
Went from being happy to so unhappy average 2 monthly bill £75-£95 summer winter. Then to £112-£136 4 bills in 5 months and not one person could give me a satisfactory reason why. crap stay well away.
I recently changed over to Airtricity from Power NI, this was a big mistake. With Power NI my average weekly charge was £15.00 now it is £40.00. I am glad to say i am switching back !
At least I know exactly what I use in terms of units and paying 2 monthly is great, cheaper than the rest of suppliers with regards terms, NIE were taking my money in blocks of £50 month estimate regards usage from previous year, we now only pay for usage which is approx £48-£50 every 2 months. Good service. I made a great change and am very happy.
Changed to Airtricity June 2010. Well satisfied with their service. Have found no problems whatsoever. Signed up for paperless billing, automatic reminders for meter readings and monthly direct debit payment. Have benefitted from the 14% discount on NIE prices.
I was going to change to airtricity but after reading review i am not going to bother, its better the devil you know than the one you dont.
I joined Airtricity in January submitted my starting meter reading then a month later they asked for my second reading. I was absolutely horrified at the bill! £158 for one months usage, this was more than my quarterly bill with NIE. Impossible to talk to anyone and emails don’t get replied too, needless to say I have returned to NIE and back to paying my £45 a month! It is all in the hands of the utility regulators and trading standards now.
Stay well clear!
