My boyfriend & I went to Bangor cinema on Monday (7th) May to see the 8.45 screening of The Avengers. We were a little early, so after getting dirnks & sweets from rather un-friendly staff we went on into the screen. There had been no previous movie on in screen 2 at that time.
What hit me first when we entered the room was the bad smell, then as we continued to walk up the steps the mess, the place was disgsting, it had obviously not been cleaned from whenever the previous movie was on. There were drinks, rubbish, popcorn etc everywhere! Lots of the seating areas had drinks spilt on seats & the floor too which had made it all sticky.
Very dissappointed with our visit to Bangor cinema on this occassion I think they need to take better care of it.
We were going to complain when the film had finsished but there didnt seem to be any staff about at all when we left. Very annoying as we live locally and going to Bangor cinema just makes sense, however, I think we will visit Dundonald cinema next time.

Be aware that as well as stopping customers bringing in their own snacks (I’ve seen them searching handbags!), they’ve now stopped manning the ticket kiosk so that customers have to queue up at the food counter to get them. Perhaps they’re hoping for impulse purchases at their exorbitant prices. Insulting!

The refurbishment is very welcome. However, the price is a little high and the selection of films is always disappointing. It also misses good surrounding restaurants etc, like dundonald.

Went there to see harry potter this week, like to go there as often as possible. Love the special seats at the rear , those leather sofas are very comfortable and well worth the extra money. Well done. Sound good and the heat in the building is at a comfortable level, on previous occasions i have complained that it was quite cold.

Used to be pretty grubby, but fair play to them, it’s now a good quality cinema experience, and cheaper than the Belfast flicks.
What you’d expect from any modern cinema.

Iv seen a lot of films there and would go these days about once a month or so depending on whats showing, they show basically all the films that are out the time.
I agree as well they do refurbish it quite frequently which is nice, so the chairs are comfortable, they have double seats, and for extra you can get BIG comfy armchairs at the back VIP.
But they do stumble on prices as with most cinemas, so bring your own or pay the price but personally i see the cinema as an event so i don’t mind sometimes paying a bit extra but it depends on the person, plus your there for the movie so don’t let things like that get you down :)

Front of house staff very friendly and girl on ticket desk last night was knowledgable about a number of the films showing (recounted amusing tales of people freaking out whilst watching Paranormal Activity - motion sickness apparently).
Seats are fairly comfy and the sound and screen of the main film spot on. The trailers were very distorted and had me worried that the main film would also be affected. Thankfully it wasn’t but I do love the trailers so was a little disappointed.
Confectionery prices are steep so buy before you go.

I’m there most weeks as I take my daughter, or I go to watch films alone. The cinema is comfortable and the reception desk staff are patient and friendly, but I find the pricing to be confusing. There are different rates for different times of the week.
As the previous review said, the confectionery prices are a bit of a piss-take so i never buy in the cinema and bring my stuff with me.

Good enough cinema. Get’s done up fairly regularly so it’s in nice enough condition. Pretty comfortable. Decent selection of films.
Like all cinemas they get the arm in for food and drink
