Great bacon, avocado & blue brie sandwich at lunchtime. Good and thick. Reasonably priced, nice ambiance, friendly staff.
The toasties are pretty good too.

The Black Box is a fantastic venue - they always have something different going on, from music to plays to book sales… Plus really delicious snack food for great value, a yummy slice of pizza for about £1.50 - where can you go wrong? The staff are brilliant, they are always really friendly and helpful, they go out of their way to help you out and make you comfortable, the previous review about the waiter offering the wi-fi password doesn’t surprise me it sounds just like something they would do.
In short, a laid-back fun place to chill and have a pint, a bite to eat or just a coffee and a chat. Love it.

The Black Box plays host to a number of monthly tech events in Belfast including Refresh and Mobile Monday.
Presented here myself recently at Refresh and the setup was pretty good. There’s even a working internet connection (which even in 2010 can be hard to find in Belfast). Definitely a good venue for things like this.
Nice beers too with the likes of Erdinger and Warsteiner available.

Cheap, delicious coffee and sandwiches as big as your head. What more could you want? What? A pizza oven? Yeah they have that too & jesus do they know how to use it — always worth beginning a trek around the Cathedral Quarter bars with a pizza & pint in the Black Box cafe. Spectacular.

I’ve just finished an extremely tasty bowl of Asparagus soup (made with meat stock - which I was warned of before I ordered) and I’m extremely pleased with the service here. When my waiter came, he noticed I had my laptop out and actually offered the WiFi password for the cafe. This has never happened before in years of being a road warrior - usually you end up asking for it and being treated like a leper for it. I’m shocked, stunned and amazed.
I would give the Service, the food and the staff all 5/5. The café itself is buzzing with bohemian types and the music playing is eclectic so it’s not somewhere for a quiet conversation maybe but it’s a very pleasant atmosphere.
