The friendliest happiest staff in Belfast. Coffee better and cheaper than Starbucks, Clements, Costa. Do excellent range of bagels, sandwiches, wraps, salads. They never skimp on fillings here!!! O yeah, and free wi-fi! No body minds if you say 6 minutes or 6 hours!

Nice little cafe, free wifi, friendly staff but a complete lack of a toilet spoils it in my case. When asked, I was told to go to Lavery’s bar down the street, epic fail for a cafe in my opinion.

Charlie’s is nice enough, the coffee is good, but the acoustics in the place are dreadful. It’s almost impossible to have a conversation when other punters are there. Wooden floor, lost of class, few soft furnishings and bare-ish walls means that the noise in the place just bounces all over the place.
Clements in Botanic is much better, so long as the music isn’t too loud!

From the outside, Charlie’s looks like nothing special. Small, modestly decorated and with little to suggest the delight it holds within.
As others have noted, the free wifi and relaxed attitude to protracted stays are a revelation, but to my mind, the true greatness of Charlie’s is the quality of the food and drink.
The food menu (which you wouldn’t know existed if they didn’t supply you with a copy) has some really great choices, with thick, well packed sandwiches, “paddy pizzas” and, my personal favourite, the warm tortilla wraps.
To drink, I recommend the hot chocolate for inclement weather, or the fresh milkshakes when it’s warm (banana and coconut is a wonderful choice).
Staff are friendly and personable, eager to join in a chat and to keep your cup filled.
The lack of a public toilet is a mild inconvenience and is the only reason this isn’t a five star review, but should not detract from this fabulous little coffee shop.

Charlies Coffee Shop is intimate, accessable and populated not only by friendly staff but attracts the sort of clientele that mirror its personable outlook.
It should be noted that Gerry Norman’s perchant for mixed salads is without a doubt the highlight of the establishment.
The only down side is that it is sans-toilet; a mere blemish on an otherwise five star review.
