Nice enough. Bit quirky, open atmosphere. Staff not that attentive.

Starters were nice, but a little pricy for what you get.

One vegetarian main option.

My steak was cooked right in the middle, but was overly charred on the outside which spoiled the flavour. I liked the chips but some found them too salty.

The moroccan kebab special was well liked by those who chose it.

The chocolate dessert looked small but did make up for it in the taste department.

Knock a pound off the starters, don’t burn the steak and an extra star is in there.

Went last saturday night for a special occasion. I was so disappointed. Service and food was terrible. Ordered 2 glasses of merlot which the waitress forget about, got them 15 mins later when i asked where they were. Ordered pork belly starter-hardly any pork, just fat and not crispy or cooked properly- so inedible. I ordered lamb shank with mashed potato, lamb was tough and chewy, gravy tasted like a packet mix, potato was awful. My friend ordered chicken kiev-it was a dried out piece of breaded and deep fat fried chicken fillet served with lank greasy chips and a dish of garlic mayo. When i complained i was just told that the chef said that no one else had complained about the food tonight-i was handed the bill and i left. Obviously no one else had complained yet as i was there for opening time!  I will never ever go back, terrible food, service and very over priced. A waste of £50.

Think they’ve renamed the place to Made in Belfast Cathedral Quarter!

Went last night as a school leaving dinner, a party of ten. Staff were lovely and polite, attentive but not annoying. The food was great, presentation and taste-wise. I think the only thing I can call out was the menu design, which had a few of us fairly bewildered at first! Other than that, we had a great night.

Just as a general comment, maybe change up the vegetarian options every so often.

Had my first visit to ‘Made In Belfast’ (Talbot St.) last night for a big Celebration! It lived up to every good review I’d heard :) Brilliant! I booked with Michael (if he reads this he’ll remember me, because I asked for him a few times!). Was impressed with his phone manner even before I experienced the wow dining experience that is ‘Made In Belfast’. Booked a table for me and ten of my girl-friends, and not one complaint amongst us!!! I ordered the chicken and it was great!!!! Brilliant venue, quirky décor, loved, loved, loved it! Will be back! THANK YOU so much guys - it was the best part of my night :) The only thing is, next time I visit, I intend to try out the sofas that Michael spoke fondly of on the phone, ha ha, oh and your Martini Cocktail!

I am all for quirky decor but it’s not the be all and end all, I would rather have good food and good service, instead we got the following, shown to our seats, ignored for 15 minutes while the waiter flirted with the table behind us, drinks, starter and main order taken by him, which was our last contact with any member of staff over the rest of the evening. The meals were delivered to our tables without so much as an ‘excuse me’ let alone ‘how is everything so far?’ the starter of bake Camembert was ok but not spectacular. I had the burger and my girlfriend had the mouiles frites. For gods sake if you are going to use ‘trademark’ thick bread as a bap, then don’t burn it, nothing ruins a meal like the taste of burnt toast. Also there was so much salt on the chips I had to send them back, not something I do very often, when they returned they were not as bad but undercooked, I didn’t bother to complain as I had had to chase the staff enough to get them sent back the first time. All in all this is very much a case of style over substance they would do better investing in a little staff training rather than a few chipped plates, I didn’t even tip, a big statement as I work in a cafe myself and would always tip. All in all, no worth the money. Very poor.

I have been here lots of times since this restaurant opened and have always recommended it, however, myself and a friend decided to head here for lunch on a friday afternoon. Expectations always being high we were unfortunately disappointed. For starters i had the breads which to be honest i thought would be a little more exciting. My friend opted for the curried soup which she said was just alright. The mains we had were the guiness and beef pie, well not much beef included! The service was fine, never can really fault the staff who on any occasion have always been very nice. Hope this is just one blip as i do enjoy this place for beginning a night out and no doubt will give it another chance.

Seems to be a mixed bag of reviews here. My experience was also pretty mixed. The staff welcome could be described as surly on the night we were there. The food was pretty good and the overall experience was ok.

However I do think it’s very much a case of style over substance. It’s all a bit ‘try hard’. For example the seats look cool, but aren’t so great to sit on. The retro beakers you get for drinks look cool, but i can’t help feel a little cheap drinking wine from them. The mussels and chips looked cool, until you tried to eat the mussels and had to dig your way through the chips which covered them.

All in all it’s a quirky place to go with mates. But don’t expect a great dinner.

It’s a nice place but the service is really slow. I didn’t like my turkish pizza. I tried what my friends had and didn’t really like them either. One of my friends got a chicken pie and we couldn’t find any chicken in it. I also don’t like that you get your wine in a plastic glass.

Went to Hooligan last night with a group of girlfriends and it’s the perfect restaurant for a night of girlie chat.

None of the starters floated my boat and to be honest I was struggling picking something from the main course list - nearly got the supreme of chicken but it was served with stroganoff sauce and I don’t like creamy sauces so I ended up opting for the confit duck which was a taste sensation - absolutely divine!  Friends got the chicken and were swooning over it - the portions are generous and as in other reviews the chips are sensational.  My duck came with a side of potatoes but on seeing the chips I ordered an extra portion and am so glad that I did yum yum yum.

For desert we ALL got the sticky toffee pudding - this is a bit of a ritual for us gals but we were also spurred on by a recommendation from another sugar-loving pal. It was delish and the ice-cream was particularly nice - as usual I wished there was more ice-cream and more sauce and all the girls did think it could have had a little more sauce but agreed it was a winner.

Service was excellent - really helpful and even when they were flat out they were still really attentive and pleasant.

All in all - really enjoyed it - will definitely be back soon.

Really loved the quirky decor - only downside of the night was lack of proper wine glasses - there were only wee plastic tumblers or champagne flutes. I know they’re trying to be a bit off the wall but plain wine glasses aren’t expensive - they should invest in a few.

I really like the quirkiness of this place. The staff were friendly without being ‘in your face’. The menu was great and the food delicious.

However, on this particular night I had a wee notion for something veggie. My starter was delicious. The veggie main course I ordered sounded mouth wateringly good. I was told a few minutes later that there was none left. This wasn’t a big problem as the second vegetarian option on the menu sounded equally as delicious. It was all gone too. Now we weren’t ordering at 9pm – we had a booking from 6-8pm. I ended up with a meat dish. It was very tasty, but not what I wanted.

The chips are the best I’ve tasted in a restaurant.

Would have given four or five stars had it not been for the lack of food!!

While staff were friendly, they were unattentive and the service was very slow.  Limited vegetarian options and kitchen ran out of some of these things but presentation and quality good.

Would love if they had more comfortable chairs - get the look and design but comfort while dining is important too.  Would recommend giving it a try as food is good.

Interesting decor and excellent service.

Food on the whole was very good, but I didn’t seem to get much salmon in my salmon/pastry thing I ordered. Nice all the same. You could spend all day just looking around the place. Worth checking out.

Had another excellent meal here - opted for the beef which was perfectly done.

But guys the pot of tea for 1 was massive! I like it strong it took ages to brew!

Definitely one of the best places to eat in Belfast - funky feel, attentive staff, great food, great value. Amazing as they are the new kids on the block. The best place I have found to eat in the cathedral Quarter area.

This place is bizarre! The decor is like being stuck inside someone’s dream, and the staff appear to be able to set their own dress and appearance codes. Drinks are served in a variety of glasses that look like they’ve been found on eBay. And try not to trip on the foot rest bar that runs down the entire side of the restaurant.

But its simply wonderful. All of the above just adds to the wonder of the place, making it a cut above the usual cookie cutter designs around town.

Then we get to the food. Stunning is the only word I can think of. Its beautifully prepared with obvious care and attention to detail. Prices are below what I would have expected for the quality that was offered.

3 stars ... Just about. I really wasn’t fussed on this place. It’s more style over substance. Trouble is… The style looks fake.  They haven’t pulled off the ‘Made in Belfast’ vibe @ all.

The place will probably do quite well, as it’s in the great cathedral quarter & right beside the 5 star ‘27 Talbot Street’.

Good: Location, menu, Lavender ice cream

Bad: Huge portions, style over substance

I have had two excellent meals here, the staff were great, the menu is extremely varied, and the food was delicious.

I had the Beef pie the first time, which was was served in a stylish way, and had the duck recently, which was great too.

The prices are reasonable enough, similar to Made in Belfast prices, and the cocktails are great too!

I would thoroughly recommend Hooligan, and will be a regular.

Went here last night for a meal with some work colleagues, had really been looking forward to it as I’d heard some great reviews.  Thankfully we weren’t disappointed.

I had the ½ pint of prawns which was good although instead of mayo possibly something with a bit of a kick to dip them in would have been nice.

For main I had the lamb burger, again it was very good although I was disappointed with the chips as there wasn’t enough chunky chips, instead I got a lot of tiny ends.

Apart from those two criticisms the meals was excellent and reasonably priced, service was good - not too rushed.  Hope to be back soon.

Service was good, surroundings echo that of Made in Belfast (unsurprisingly) and some of the decor items are a little contrived but…

...the food was amazing.

Portions are not massive but well sized (I am a big eater and they were adequate for me). But the tastes were simply amazing.

Parking is available nearby cheaply and you’re close enough to the centre of Belfast to be able to visit there too.

From being welcomed into the restaraunt to the recomendations on the menum it was all very good. The bathroom being very clean (which says it all to me!) to the atmosphere.  I loved the food, as there was 5 of us, we all got to share everything, especially as there was plenty to go round.

I didnt like the hard seats with the cushions on top though, kept slipping off them.  In the end just pushed the cushion aside and sat on the hard tile.

For main course someone had the mussels, which i dont really eat but have to say i tried and absalutely loved.  Was sooo good.

Would go again and again. Loved the whole night.

Dropped in for dinner at around 6:30 without a reservation.  The restaurant wasn’t too busy and we were made to feel very welcome.

The service was probably the best I’ve ever had in Belfast.  Advice was offered on menu choices, the waiter was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and even consulted with a chef when asked how a special was cooked.

I have been to Made in Belfast twice before and never had a great experience, but this place does everything right.

The menu offered a broad range of seasonal specialities and catered well for the vegetarian.

To echo Lee’s review above, the nice little touches made all the difference.  Cutlery is dispensed from a Golden Syrup can, nestled in with the condiments and a nice little cactus on every table.

Portions were large, cooked to perfection and extremely enjoyable.

Nice new place from the people who brought us Made in Belfast.

Interesting choice of interiors - kind of looks like they’ve went to an old charity shop to do it up with old deck chairs and nostalgic annuals used as menu covers, but it works really well. You’ll spend ages just looking around you to see what you can spot.

For such a new venue the service was spot on, they had us well looked after.

Food was decent and plentiful. Menu bit awkward to read but that’s a very small complaint. Went for some Jamaican beer, which was a nice change, and came in a tin with a small imperial beer glass. It’s nice unusual touches like this I really like.

Was here for lunch and cost £15 for food and drink. Recommended if you fancy something a bit different.
