A lot of negative comments from other reviews and unfortunately have to agree with most. And yet ... I always enjoy this cafe. Coffee is consistently good and while service is slow, I find the whole vibe so relaxing that it doesn’t matter. I like the staff - friendly but not forced. On one visit when they had no salmon left for my bagel, somebody ran off to Tesco to get some!

I think it is very poor. The service is way too slow and it is very dear. They are £4.10 for a latté annd scone and the coffee aint the best.
O’Briens are £3.35 for the same and the Yellowdoor is £2.90, again for the same.
Free WIFI a plus but they charge you a pound an hour to plug in your laptop.
Anytime Ive been in iy certainly wasn’t the cleanest and was left waiting at the counter for a few minutes while a member of staff surfed the web.
He was looking up holiday’s…............unprofessional.

Go in quite a bit as i work just across the road from Roast.
Service can be a bit slow, but i love their Chicken Ceaser salad with bacon and chicken. Om nom nom
The place is a bit grubby (student like grubby) but it feels lived in.
Staff are friendly enough. It does have free wifi and the sofa areas upstairs are where i really like to sit.
Be warned though it can be a bit cold outside of summer time.

Free wifi and reasonable prices…however went in about 8pm after work and they had no ice cream so couldn’t get a milkshake, i think this was a one off as have been in a few times after this with no trouble

On seeing Colin’s review there it reminded me of the last time I was in roast. It was about 16 quid for two coffees and two basic enough sandwiches. The place was not the cleanest coffee shop I’ve been in though I agree the staff are pleasent if not a bit slow.

Called in this morning for a quick coffee and a chat with my dad. Two black coffees were £3.50 - seems a little OTT. However, the overall appearance is grubby to put it politely. The glass frontage of the cafe was so filthy, my father thought it had closed down. As I walked in, the glass door stuck on the built-up grime on the floor and there was a plastic produce tray lying outside the front door.
The staff are always very pleasant, but they need some leadership and standards - disappointing!

Been a couple of times, never had speedy service, never had overly friendly service; though I’m told in recent times it has improved after being closed for a few weeks and then taking on new management.
Apparently you can order ahead and I have it first hand they were able to meet a food pre order at 1pm (i.e. A busy period) which is pretty good going.
Good atmosphere and great sofas upstairs the time I was there, that and a bit of good company made up for the lack of service!
