Nice place - decor and menu very similar to Scalini’s (maybe owned by same people?).
Food was great, and quickly made, but service was a let down. My side order was forgotten, as were the dessert menus and water refill. We were in no rush, and not pushed on so it wasn’t a huge issue.
Apart from being forgetful on this occasion our waitress, and the rest of the staff were friendly. I’ll certainly be back in search of that extra star I feel is in there :)

I was here recently with a large group and everybody seemed happy enough with their meals. It was my first time there and I ordered the pasta carbonara as a main and a chocolate orange cheesecake.
I got a glass of house red which was nice. It look a bit of a wait for everyone to get their food, the place was very busy as well as it was a Saturday evening.
My pasta was lovely, cooked well, a little rich but tasty - the choice was perhaps a safe one however! My desert was very nice, and wasn’t too rich after the main so I could walk out of the restaurant comfortably!
I’d recommend it, and will probably go back, but maybe on a weekday or earlier in the hope it won’t be as busy.

Had a enjoyable meal tonight with family over from scotland. Im glad we pre booked as we forgot the exam results where out today, so a lot of families celebrating. So was a packed house.
Food wise, i had the Chicantto pizza. I was expecting a little more kick from the chilli sauce but thats just personal taste. Service was unbelievably quick tonight, i think we waited a max of 10 minutes for food ti be brought to our table.
4 stars from me.

Any chance of ever updating the menu. Used to be a great place to eat but I think they are just taking the custom for granted now. Always busy but don’t know why so many people stick with quite average food .TRY NEXT DOOR

I used to love this place a few years ago.. But the last 2 or 3 times I have been, there has always been something wrong with someone’s meal. This time, I had ordered the chicken with bacon and garlic stuffing, it came out with cling film still on it… It had obviously not been removed before cooking it.
I informed the waitress (who came to clear our plates but did not ask how our meal was) and she then took the plate straight to the manager without an apology or much acknowledgement.
The meal was deducted from the bill, but I would have preferred better service instead, to be honest!
There are far too many young waiters / waitresses… They are tripping over each other! Also, after the waitress left our bill with us, she continually walked past looking for the money, which we were not going to sort out until we had finished our drinks and were ready to leave.
Overall, I am disappointed to say that this is a restaurant I would no longer recommend.

Pretty disappointed after a visit this evening. Got a King Prawn starter that consisted of 5 normal sized prawns on a large plate. I know it’s a starter but it was like 90% plate, 10% food.
Lasagne was dry and seemed to be lacking any sauce - either tomato or cheese. Didn’t have the look of a restuarant prepared dish. Was colourless, dry and looked microwaved.
Desert was Nut Sundae. Hard to get ice cream, some nuts and a bit of sauce out of a tube wrong so no complaints with it.
Toilets looked dirty and flush button was broken on the one I used.
General appearance of the restuarant was fine and the service was very fast - just a shame the food was complete faff.

I’m probably going to rub someone up the wrong way here - I stopped in on my way home from work one night thinking, this will be quick/tasty italian grub - no fuss. Couldn’t have been more wrong, ordered lasagne & the wife ordered seafood linguine - my lasagne was burnt on one side (and seemed to resemble 2xtesco frozen jobs stuck on top of each other) with what seemed like heinz tomato soup as a sauce with a portion of badly cooked frozen chips. The wife’s dish was huge finding the seafood was like finding a needle in a haystack - when she did find it the prawns were like something out of a microwave meal…
If they can’t get the basics right there’s no way I’d be back for some of their pricier dishes :(

There is a great atmosphere, very clean, friendly staff, and most importantly great italian food at a very reasonable rate! :-)
However, they don’t take bookings apart from large groups. So a busy night you may have to cue, but normally only 5-10mins and worth the wait.
Definitely recommend Villa Italia to anyone…

Great little setting with a wide choice of dishes, friendly staff and decent prices.
Can usually manage to get a wee table in the back corner away from everyone else for a nice romantic meal.
