Consistently good friendly service, in very nice surroundings. Very attentive staff, even when busy, and the Passion Cake…nomtastic!

My wife and I were disappointed with yesterday’s visit to this restaurant. Service was friendly and reasonably quick, but the chicken fillet in my burger was almost cold, which was bad enough, however the amount of lettuce stalks rather thank leaves, in my wife’s Caesar Salad was incredible (see picture!). This is cost cutting at the expense of customer satisfaction.

My fault for going on a Friday evening, but it was very busy and the guy on duty said it would take up to 45 minutes for food. We took a seat anyway and ordered. Starter arrived fairly quickly and the rest of the courses followed along nicely. We were on our dessert 66 minutes after sitting down - not too shabby.
All in, friendly service, lovely food, especially my wife’s starter! Very noisy though, but a nice family crowd.

We’ve been going here for years. The quality of the food and the general fit-out of the place has improved recently.
From today’s visit, I can heartily recommend the cod and chips!
Service was friendly and for Easter Sunday, it wasn’t too busy. Lots of parking too.

Called in yesterday for a quick coffee and was very impressed. I’ve passed here many times and not been tempted but with some time to kill…
I had one of the nicest Americano coffees I have in ages. Attentive and responsive staff, lovely ambience and comfortable seat, along with lots of space - I’ll be back.

I called in here last Sunday and had the duck noodles. I was the only customer and got lots of attention from the staff. Lovely set up, but a but a pricey for what I had.

I met a friend here for lunch yesterday. It was my first time and I was impressed with the location, decor and food on offer.
I hadn’t heard of a “Boxty” before - it’s a sort of pancake made from potato. Mine was the lunchtime special with boiled ham and turkey, with cranberry sauce and a small gravy boat of gravy. Very nice too.
My friend had a Belfast Bap. She was very pleased with it and feeling fairly full, we decided to share the Stewed Rhubarb Pavlova for dessert and ordered one with two spoons. Two arrived and when I mentioned this to the waiter, he said he would only charge us for one. Of course, we ate both (freakin’ awesome), and offered to pay again, but he refused - big tip for him!
Overall, a very positive first visit.

I enjoyed my first visit today. Nicely designed and bright and airy for a small unit. Friendly staff member explained how everything worked and the food was hot and fresh, and arrived quickly. Felt it was a little expensive for what it was and the music was a little raucous but I’ll be back.

We were really pleasantly surprised with both the quality of the food and the warmth of the welcome. The place wasn’t very busy but the food was freshly cooked and the service was the best I’ve experienced in some year.
Will definitely be back.

Called in this morning for a quick coffee and a chat with my dad. Two black coffees were £3.50 - seems a little OTT. However, the overall appearance is grubby to put it politely. The glass frontage of the cafe was so filthy, my father thought it had closed down. As I walked in, the glass door stuck on the built-up grime on the floor and there was a plastic produce tray lying outside the front door.
The staff are always very pleasant, but they need some leadership and standards - disappointing!

Popped in here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised at the home-made chips and the very friendly smiley service. Lovely burger with pepper sauce and the chips, along with a still water for £9.95.

We’ve been eating both sit-in and carry-out meals from this restaurant for many years. However, lately it has lost it’s lustre with some really flavourless meals and what seems like an over reliance on MSG.
This culminated tonight in a completely peanut-less “Satay” Chicken, where the said chicken was pink. Not sure if this was due to undercooking or food colouring. It has put me right off the Golden Apple for a while. I imagine they have changed cooks. Time to return to the Marierosa, methinks.

I’ve always been happy with the service and prices from Bangor Fuels, but this week, they pulled me out of a hole with a delivery of heating oil within 90 minutes of making the call!
Always courteous, both on the telephone and in person, their staff are exemplars of customer service.
Can’t recommend highly enough :)

This was our first visit to the Fat Cat Bistro. First impressions were good. Lots of money spent on the renovation of an old house. Nicely done and well decorated, spacious enough inside, and good lighting.
We heard through a friend that there was a deal of a starter and a main for £10, but it turns out that this is only available Sun to Wed. We carried on anyway and we both went for the pate starter (see photo) which was both substantial and tasty with a fair amount of garnish.
Between courses I had a look around and felt that it was a little strange to invest all that capital in layout and decor and then have two large “caution cones” sitting in the dining area, especially when the floor was dry, but I digress.
For the main course, my wife selected Tagliatelle and I had Supreme of Chicken stuffed with Blue Cheese. Both were good-sized portions with adequate vegetables served separately. For dessert, we both had Hot Chocolate Fudge Cake with ice cream - great stuff!
Service at all times was prompt, courteous, pleasant and friendly and corkage cost £1.95.
Our meal came to £41.35 which I felt was a fair price. I’ll be back on one of the deal nights!
O'Briens

I popped into O’Briens today for a snack and some coffee. This time, the coffee was much better than the snack. I chose a Chilli Chicken Wrap and used the excellent spotless and spacious facilities while it was being prepared.
Unfortunately, the wrap was not good. Perhaps 90-95% of the filling was finely chopped raw peppers and onions and the lukewarm chicken that was in there, looked like scrapings. The outside of the wrap had been “toasted”. Not sure if this was intended to heat the filling up but it didn’t work and parts of the wrap were burnt.
Nice coffee though and the usual smiley service.
Must do better!
