Two years late to the party, I finally had dinner in Made in Belfast last night and can definitely see what the continual fuss was about. I ordered the roast mediterranean vegetables with feta and torn breads, which was easily one of the most satisfying meals I’ve ever had in Belfast.

Although it may seem a little dated now, the cheap and nasty decor and furniture complimented perfectly the anything but meal and I’m glad I finally got to enjoy this notorious location. All the usual trimmings — great service, sensibly priced, perfect location — will certainly return.

Definately the best meal I’ve had in Belfast and among the best meals I’ve had anywhere, ever. Perfect, the attention to detail in every aspect of the visit was impeccable - renforced even more by the excellent, attentive service. Perfect.

For a first visit, definately more than enough to convince me to return again. Next time I’ll be making a trip out of it, attempting two or three courses and sampling the wine list.

I had an amazing meal in Rollo Pollo about two years ago — so good that I’ve emphatically recommended it to dozens of people since, despite not having a chance to return.

Tonight, I’d committed myself to a lazy night in — so I hopped on Nifty Nosh in search of something delicious and vaguely healthy. With a minimum order amount of £10 I had to go for a large portion of Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli and large chips, imagining I’d stick the heaping leftovers in the fridge. The total order, including delivery + tip, came to £15.

After 45 minutes, the food showed up — to a somewhat underwhelmed audience. A polystyrene container of Tesco Value Ravioli with barely any sauce whatsoever in one and a small amount of chips in the other, no where near what I would expect for £15. I don’t mind paying a premium for take-out or a higher quality of food, but my order this evening everything to be desired.

Really disappointed. Won’t be recommending and certainly won’t be back any time soon.

Stellar coffee, staffed exclusively by a bunch of friendly gents and had My Bloody Valentine and the Jesus & Mary Chain on the stereo this afternoon. Second branch of the spectacular Stranmillis-based coffee chain, absolutely worth checking out if you’re passing by!

Really tasty noodles, plenty of options and all quite reasonably priced — had a bowl of noodles and a beer for £8. Friendly, helpful staff, food came quickly and we were well taken care of. Will definitely be back!

Excellent atmosphere (massive comfy sofas ++), an army of lovely, attentive staff and an excellent eclectic menu. Great selection of food — as well as an obscene amount of tasty buns, pastries, cupcakes and eclairs.

Along with the considerably sized tables and free wifi, it’s a great spot to stop by to get a bit of work done over a cup of tea and slice of cake.

Really well considered, a welcome addition to South Belfast. Will be back as often as isn’t considered dangerously obsessive behaviour.
