Had dinner here on Saturday night and was really impressed.
Food:
The food was superb, I had the salted chilli scampi to start which was excellent, followed by the sirloin and a side of sweet potato chips. The sirloin was probably the best steak I have ever had, a great piece of meat and cooked to perfection and complimented by those delicious sweet potato chips. Incredible.
Topped it all of by treating myself to the trio of desserts which was a perfect sampler of the many delights available. Highly recommended.
Atmosphere:
Pretty much a full house and a nice buzz about the place throughout the evening.
Service:
Staff were great, very attentive without being in your face. Knowledgeable about the menu and wine list and with a positive smiley attitude. Timing of the the courses could have been fractionally slower but it didn’t get in the way of a great meal.
Price:
Not the cheapest but certainly not overly expensive and worth every penny.
Overall, I can’t recommend the Barking Dog enough. It was a great eating experience. I will definitely be back.

You will struggle to top Rhubarb for an evening meal in Belfast. Simply put, the food is stunning, the atmosphere excellent and the service top notch.
I had the scallops with chorizo for my main. Incredible food and reasonable prices. No pretentious nonsense like other places I have eaten in.
*cough* Teatro *cough*
Also, it’s bring your own and the corkage is very reasonable. Winner! Could happily have sat on all night. 5 stars.

Atmosphere is somewhat lacking in this modern cafe. Nicely furnished although reminded me of the sort of place you might find when visiting the zoo.
Ordered a plain chicken salad which turned out to be a chicken and bacon Caesar salad. Wasn’t in the mood to send it back as it had taken ages to arrive. Was fairly average and the portion size was adequate.
Overall, not a great experience and my first visit will likely be my last. The arrival of Doorsteps a few doors up the road (whilst I lament Ooddles Noodles demise) can’t come soon enough. Salads by the bucketload await!
Wolfes Gourmet Burgers, Lisburn

Had the American breakfast. Perfect for the hungry and indecisive post swim brunch in Lisburn. Combines elements of a fry and pancakes, bacon and Maple syrup. Superb food and courteous service. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had.
Highly recommended.

Ordered from here tonight. Food was 80 minutes late. Had 3 assurances that it was on it’s way an each time I had to phone again to see what was happening. A web of lies followed and eventually the food arrived.
The food itself was very average, was missing a portion of rice and the Peshwari naan bread I ordered was just a plain one. After 80 mins wait, I couldn’t be bothered phoning and waiting for them to rectify the situation. All in all a total disaster. Avoid at all costs. Try the Ganges if you are seeking Indian food in Bangor.
Teatro, Belfast

The 5 star gushing reviews of Teatro tell me much more about the state of the restaurant scene and punters in Belfast than it does about the restaurant itself.
Having eaten there recently (monkfish kebabs followed by the Sweet Tapas) I was left feeling somewhat underwhelmed. The atmosphere was average, the service less than attentive and the food didn’t blow me away.
The cutesy factor is a great novelty but I don’t want to pay a premium for that at the expense of a decent meal.
Bottom line: Would I go back? No. When you are paying £40 for a taxi and babysitter before you even leave the house, you don’t want to take a risk on where you eat.
Cute gets people in the door; good service, great food and reasonable pricing gets them back again.
Novelty will only carry you so far.
As the 2 Star Rating explains - I expected better.
The Ganges at Bangor, Bangor

Still getting my business many months on from my last review. The Ganges is very tasty, not too oily/greasy and delivery times are very speedy!
Competitively priced against other restaurants and takeaways in Bangor it is the go-to takeaway menu in my drawer!

Coffee is served in nice big mugs, it’s fresh and plenty hot!
The food is very good too, nice portion sizes and always good if you are feeling like something more substantial than a sandwich.
Great staff and very friendly.
The Salty Dog, Bangor

The Salty Dog feels like a good alternative if you can’t get into the Jamaica Inn. There is nothing wrong with it at all, food was good, staff very friendly and prices reasonable. For lunch though, it would be my second choice.
It’s worth a look more in the evenings as a pre-pub dining venue though.
Fat Cat Bistro, Bangor

Have eaten here for both breakfast and dinner.
Breakfast is good, the fry is lovely, not too greasy and not too overwhelming. Pancakes with backon and syrup are very tasty as well.
Dinner is a good experience too, staff very friendly and looked after our tabel well. Accommodated our kids well and made sure they were entertained whilst waiting for the food to arrive.

Popped in to Active Health having made an appointment on the phone. Was greeted by David (one of the partners) and treated to some friendly conversation prior to being taken through to my appointment with Rachel (Other partner).
I had been struggling with a shoulder issue and Rachel put me at ease quickly and took some medical history. I was then examined and put through a series of stretches to determine the ability of my shoulder movement.
Once established, I was asked to hop on to the treatment bed where I received 20-25 mins of massage and manipulation to free up my shoulder.
Finally I was shown a couple of stretches to carry out at home before the end of teh appointment.
Overall a very thorough and friendly service which was carried out in relaxed yet professional surroundings.
Along side physiotherapy, they undertake sports massage and pilates classes. Like the Yellow pages, not just there for the nasty things in life!
And my shoulder? Doing very well thanks!

Front of house staff very friendly and girl on ticket desk last night was knowledgable about a number of the films showing (recounted amusing tales of people freaking out whilst watching Paranormal Activity - motion sickness apparently).
Seats are fairly comfy and the sound and screen of the main film spot on. The trailers were very distorted and had me worried that the main film would also be affected. Thankfully it wasn’t but I do love the trailers so was a little disappointed.
Confectionery prices are steep so buy before you go.
Frankie and Bennys, Belfast

Went with colleagues for lunch. Was a nightmare. So slow that the food hadn’t arrived by the time we were actually due back in the office. Ended up being really late, having eaten rather average food at a cramped table. Overall a poor experience and the staff seemed unconcerned at the tardiness of their service. Definitely wouldn’t go again.

Excellent service, makes ordering takeway food a breeze, especially if you have no cash and you are at home. Order online from a selection of restaurants, pay by card online or cash or delivery and have it brought to your house. Couldn’t be more simple.
Just waiting on that iPhone App next!
