The museum is my absolutely favourite place in belfast. It’s great for a day out with friends and family, or even just for a wander around on a lazy sunday afternoon. I much prefer the museum’s permanent collection, i was raging when sean scully took over all 9 galleries on opening but we’ve got it back now with the addition of a lot of contemporary works as well. The activities organised by the museum are well worth looking out for as well, there are loads of things for kids, and they do free guided tours of the collections which are fascinating.

AND they won the art fund prize so plenty more good things to come! Definitely recommended for a great day out

Mmm i love it here! I was taking some clients for a very quick lunch between meetings, and they loved it! The food was delicious, well presented and there was a great atmosphere. I was able to tell them about the place’s history which they thought was a nice touch and it’s in a fab area. The staff were friendly and helpful and the fod came quickly.

I would definitely recommend this place, especially on a nice day out after the museum!

This place is ok… Food’s alright but nothing special, and it’s quite cheap so it does the job. I hate the bar downstairs though, any time i’ve gone here with a mate for a quiet drink you get attacked by sleazy old drunkards who seem permanently attached to the bar, not much craic.

Black Box

The Black Box is a fantastic venue - they always have something different going on, from music to plays to book sales… Plus really delicious snack food for great value, a yummy slice of pizza for about £1.50 - where can you go wrong? The staff are brilliant, they are always really friendly and helpful, they go out of their way to help you out and make you comfortable, the previous review about the waiter offering the wi-fi password doesn’t surprise me it sounds just like something they would do.

In short, a laid-back fun place to chill and have a pint, a bite to eat or just a coffee and a chat. Love it.

Nick's Warehouse

I went to Nick’s Warehouse on a wednesday night, and even for a wed night it was quite busy and a good atmosphere. The staff were friendly and very efficient, they allowed you to sit over your meal as long as you wanted without trying to lift your plate every five minutes… And they brought a jug of water to the table without having to be asked (a small thing but a nice touch!) The food was lovely, and they do a set menu (3 courses + tea/coffee for £19.95) which isn’t bad bud the choice wasn’t great. The a la carte menu however had a great choice.

Nick’s was really nice and ticked all the boxes but the food didn’t blow me away - in saying that i would definitely go back

Love the duke of york! Great atmosphere, great crowd (and the plastic glass thing doesn’t bother me in the slightest!)

The Belfast Coffee Company

I work just round the corner from this place so i call in quite regularly, and i’ve been going since the opening. I feel the service standards have slipped big time. While the staff are friendly and welcoming, they always seem quite flustered and take ages to bring your order, one of the last times i was there i ordered stew and my friend ordered the goats cheese croustini. The food was delicious, however the waitress brought my stew first then brought my friend’s food 15 minutes later, and we had to ask for it twice. By the time my friend’s food arrived i had to go back to work and she had to eat alone.

I went last monday for lunch and asked what the quiche was, when the girl looked unsure i said “is it just a quiche lorraine?” and i was told yes. When the quiche arrived ages later, it was mushroom/veggie quiche. I hate mushrooms but had to get back to work in 10 minutes and didn’t have time to order something else so I ate it anyway…

Last grievance, the chocolate with the coffee is a great idea, but if you go in when they’re busy, they’ll forget about it.

I gave the place 2* instead of 1 because they started off well, it’s a nice place in a nice location and if the owner invested in his staff a little it could be much better.

Needless to say, i don’t think i’ll bother going back. Clements round the corner is a much safer bet.
